Getting your website to the top of Google’s search pages is every business owner’s dream. In this blog, we’ve listed five things that could help your website’s search rankings, simply by updating some of the text.
Choose your keywords carefully
Think about what keywords your audience are searching for and what your competitors are using. Is there anything niche about your business that could help you rank for a less competitive keyword? It's useful to have a few 'priority' keywords and a longer list of secondary keywords which can be used throughout the site and focused in on with targeted blog articles.
The page title is important
Google uses the page or blog title as an important factor in its ranking. Does the title match your intended keyword, and does it accurately capture the content of your article? Make sure appropriate keywords are always present in your headings, and think secondary headings too as Google also looks at them when ranking your page.
Incorporate the URL
Use keywords in your URL and think about something descriptive but not too long. It should accurately summarise what your page is about. Try not to use underscores, spaces or any other symbols to separate words.
Everyone loves a list
Especially Google! Laying out blogs in a numbered list is a great way to display content, make the most of keywords and increase clickthroughs to your website. Even if it's not numbered, listing things gives you a clear structure from which to write your blog and incorporate keywords to each list item.
Easy to read and informative content
Google has become very advanced in scanning page content to make sure it is easy to read and relevant. Avoid keyword stuffing and try to write content that will be genuinely helpful to your audience. It must be well laid out, with good grammar and spelling. Think about the kinds of articles that you like to read.
